Marketing Communications Officer

Dark Sky Traveller is a specialised travel and event service with a scientific bent. We offer travellers an opportunity to see and experience the world in a different way through our day, domestic and international tours, including day tours at Australia’s Optical Telescope Facility. We have proven ourselves with a loyal customer base, built over several years and now looking to expand our wings.

About the role

We are a small team looking for an experienced customer service officer with an interest in marketing communications. This professional will have a passion for the travel sector, can deal with a sense of urgency and a willingness to adapt the approach to bring people on a journey.

Reporting to the Director, this role will suit someone looking for the equivalent of 2 working days per week. This is flexible to your requirements and can grow.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop marketing communications plans (Twitter, Facebook, Google, LinkedIn)
  • Develop and publish through mailchimp content for the company newsletter
  • Update website content (wix)
  • Create and manage bookings within the CRS (Rezdy)
  • Write and approach contacts with Press Releases
  • Develop and manage logistics for various promotional materials for event nights and international campaigns
  • Maintain our brand guidelines

 

Skills, education and experience necessary

Engage with guests and colleagues in a professional yet warm manner

Proven experience with developing new business leads domestically and internationally

Excellent command of the English language with high level written and verbal reasoning skills

In-depth understanding and demonstrated experience managing the creation of integrated marketing communications programs

Project management skills that ensure projects are delivered on-time

Development of marketing plans and budget management

3 years of related business experience, principally in a service business

The successful candidate will have: superb attention to detail; ability to think strategically; a strong record of execution; and a desire to make a difference in people’s travel experiences.
