Judge Dredd (JD) is an extremely popular Pinball Machine and considered by enthusiasts to have overall great game play and ruleset. The playfield design is innovative and engaging in addition to being well integrated into the overall theme. This makes them consistently popular on the market.
I have always been a passionate fan of the particular theme but had become very jaded having inspected so many that were just trashed container pins. I purchased this machine from a private collector when it was reluctantly offered to me, as the overall condition was simply stunning and it was literally too good to pass on. With only 6,993 produced worldwide, genuinely high quality machines are increasingly very rare.
With the Covid pandemic, the opportunity presented to have the machine fully ‘nut and bolt’ restored by one of Australia’s best pinball restoration professionals.
My restorer had time to spare during lockdown and I agreed to a ‘no expense spared’ basis, specifying and paying for anything required so that the rebuild would meet my personal requirements and standards.
Specifically, although it was in excellent condition, I had the playfield fully stripped down and detailed with every component cleaned, polished and serviced. This was a very expensive process but I took this course as I wanted the machine to be as good as you will find. I opted for a balanced mixture of the highest quality re-chroming and plating in genuine 24k Gold, of trim including side rails, internal ball ramps, lockdown bar, hinges and legs.
The cabinet and headbox were stripped to every last component and reconstructed using nothing but ‘A’ grade materials. New original artwork was sourced so as to keep the machine true to it’s original theme. Untold hours went into every conceivable aspect with the aim of elevating the standard, This included full LED installation (playfield headbox and flashers) new rubbers, flipper kit, bats, silicon rubbers, leg protectors, leg levellers, carbon steel balls, toughened playfield glass and new DMD display. All circuit boards and wiring have been checked and are working flawlessly.
The interior of the cabinet was ground-up restored as opposed to simply cleaned up and is now far better than when the machine was originally produced. All OEM plastics are present and unbroken. Anything less than perfect has been replaced by 100% OEM perfect parts. Every switch and globe works exactly as they should and the machine plays to perfection.
