About Us

Blacktown Anglican Child Care Centre is a 59 place, not for profit long day care service catering for children aged 0-6 years of age. Our core foundations are Love, acceptance and respect for everyone and affirming the worth of every individual in the eyes of God. We are a community based childcare centre with a Christian philosophy and approach to education for children.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic individual to join the team as a part-time cook at our service.

The successful applicant will be required from 7:00am until 1:00pm, with one day working 7:00 – 3:00 to cater for ordering. The successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations and be responsible for the preparation of all meals (morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, supper).

 

About the role

You will be required to:

  • Comply with all relevant legislation, early childhood regulations and all policies, procedures and work guidelines issued by the service.
  • Prepare and cook nutritious meals that are culturally appropriate for children 0-6 years.
  • Prepare meals and snacks in a timely manner that fits the centre’s routines.
  • To work with the Nominated Supervisor and staff to plan and prepare meals for the children including lunch, morning tea and afternoon tea, taking into consideration:- Nutritional requirements of the age group- Cultural and religious differences- Additional needs and/or medical needs of the individual child- Special needs of the 0-2 year olds.
  • Provide for/supplement alternative foods/beverages for children with allergies or special food/dietary requirements.
  • Co-ordinate with the Nominated Supervisor regarding the purchasing of food and supplies.
  • Be aware of, and assist in the management of the food budget including the choices of food and use of purchases.

 

Requirements for the role

  • Qualification in cookery or child care. Relevant experience will be considered.
  • Safe food handling certification or willing to obtain.
  • Menu planning experience is desirable
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
