Your new role
Our client is looking for an APS6 Senior Governance Officer, an EL1 Assistant Director of Governance and an EL2 Director of Governance.
Governance professionals support decision making processes, leadership structures, management auditing and procedural development. The role also supports and promotes adherence to a range of governance functions within business areas that may include:
- compliance
- risk management
- quality management
- policy
- change management
- auditing
- performance measures
- Secretariat and committee coordination.
Within this role (relevant to the individual level) you will be expected to:
- Deliver clear advice, support and application of relevant governance frameworks to ensure compliance to relevant rules, policies, procedures and processes.
- Liaise with stakeholders to prepare a range of documents and reports.
- Manage and organise own work in the context of competing priorities.
- Contribute to business planning, changes in workplace practices and business improvement strategies.
- Exercise initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures.
What you’ll need to succeed
The right candidate will have experience working within the Federal Government and a strong understanding of APS standards and requirements. Good communication skills and the ability to build stakeholder relationships are key to this role. All positions will have some degree of leaderships so previous people management experience is a bonus.
To be successful in this role you must be an Australian citizen and will possess or be willing to go through the process to obtain and maintain a minimum Baseline personnel security clearance.
You must also possess strong SFIA skills as well as Information Governance (IRMG – Level 4, 5 or 6). Relevant knowledge of governance frameworks is preferred, as is an understanding of systems and records management practices.
