Hello! My name is Oryx and I’m the biggest, boofiest boy you’ll ever meet. I’m a softy at heart and I’m hoping you’ll give me the chance to show you that.
Nature
I recently came into the care of the Angels after I found myself in a trap intended for someone else – lucky me! I have been pleasantly surprised by the unlimited food and nice warm beds that indoor life offers me. I grew up in an industrial area, so I never knew what any of it was like before.
I’m still learning to trust my humans. I currently like to be independent and hang out on window sills or in comfy hiding spots. Though, I struggle to fit in most hiding spots because I’m such a big boy. I shy away when my Foster Mum pats me, but I’ve shown no signs of aggression at this stage. I’ll need patient humans who will give me plenty of time and patience to trust them and won’t try to force me to love pats straight away.
Companions (Children, Cats & Dogs)
I would suit a child-free home whilst I learn to trust humans. If you plan on having them in future that will be fine, as I’m sure we’ll be the best of buddies before they come along.
I would be best suited to a home with another confident, friendly feline to help me gain confidence. I could be an only cat too, if you give me plenty of time to settle in and adjust. I don’t seek the cats out in my foster home currently but I do get along with them just fine.
I live with a 50kg dog and don’t seem bothered by her, so I could live with another dog if given slow introductions.
Likes / Dislikes
I love food and comfy warm spots! My favourite spot is right by the fireplace, or behind it.
I dislike sudden movements and super loud noises, but I’m learning not to be so nervous.
My PURR-fect home would be with a calm, gentle human or family that will give me lots of time and patience to settle in. I would be happy with or without other animals and I’d love an indoor only home, please.

Medical Notes: Oryx has Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) which is a virus that can affect his immune system, however, he can still potentially live a long healthy life. FIV is transmitted through deep bite wounds. Due to his FIV Oryx will need to be an indoor only cat. FIV cats can live harmoniously with other cats however slow introductions are required to ensure they do not fight.
